WATER COLOUR COLLAGE(PAPER /PAPER)Pt. SHIV NATH RAINA(1901__1961)

This collage dates back to 1931
This was the time when Bob ji, my grand
father, Pt. Shiv Nath Raina got very much
fascinated by the BIRDS OF KASHMIR.
His love for birds was quite evident from
HUGE MODELS OF BIRDS LIKE SWANS,
HERONS and life size models of birds like
HOOPOES, KINGFISHERS, DUCKS, DOVES
and SPARROWS.
He was fascinated by the habitats and
habits of the birds. He loved their
wonderful exotic colours.
Bobji was also greatly influenced by Late
Sansar Chand Koul ( Ganhar ) who was a
teacher in MISSION SCHOOL, Fateh Kadal
Sansar Chand was quite elder to BOB JI,
but they were very friendly due to their
Common interests and a game of Chess
( shatranj) in DEWAN KHAN at Badiyar
Bala.( This guest I shall discuss in my next episode)
Bob ji ( Pt. Shiv Nath) made these models
with paper pulp and cotton supported by
inner skeleton of thin wires.
He had also made a couple of huge swans at Maharaja Pratap Singh's Gadadar Mandir.
